Log in with your email and password to reach your dashboard.
The Sign In screen is where you enter the app each day. You provide your email and password, with the option to reveal your password as you type. From here you can also start registering a new account or recover a forgotten password. After you sign in, the app asks how you are joining, confirms your device access, and downloads your organization's data before opening the dashboard.

Overview
Sign In is a simple two-field form with a few helpful links. The app version and build type are shown at the bottom of the screen — useful information to quote when you report a problem.
| Element | Description |
|---|---|
| Your account email address; works with your device's saved passwords | |
| Password | Your account password; also works with saved passwords |
| Show / Hide password | Reveals or masks the password as you type |
| Login | Checks the form and submits your credentials |
| Forgot Password | Starts the password recovery flow |
| Register | Opens the new account form |
| Privacy Policy | Opens the privacy policy inside the app |
| App Version | The version and build type of the app you are running |
If you just registered, your email is pre-filled automatically so you only need to enter your password. Otherwise both fields start empty, and the password field is always cleared when you return to this screen.
Getting Here
- Open the REDENES Mobile App.
- If you are not already signed in, the Sign In screen appears after onboarding and after you name your device.
- If you sign out from inside the app, you are returned here.
Sign In to Your Account
Enter your credentials and submit.
- Type your Email. A required-field message appears under the field if you leave it blank, and clears when you tap back into it.
- Type your Password, tapping the Show / Hide icon if you want to confirm what you typed.
- Tap Login.
- A loading spinner appears while your account is verified. If this device has not been registered yet, the app quietly registers it first, then continues.
- Your settings and sounds download, then the app moves you on to the next step.

If your credentials are wrong, the app shows "Invalid email or password." — both as red text on the screen and as a pop-up alert. Re-check your email for typos and try again, or use Forgot Password if you cannot recall your password. If the server sends a more specific explanation, that message is shown instead.
What Signing In Loads onto Your Device
Signing in does more than unlock the app. It pulls down your personal preferences and your agency's sounds so the app behaves the way you set it up — on any device you sign in to.
| Setting | What it controls | Default if not set |
|---|---|---|
| Units system | Whether distances and speeds show in imperial or metric | Your agency's setting |
| Appearance theme | Light or dark mode across the whole app | Light |
| App icon | Which REDENES icon appears on your home screen | The standard icon |
| Date format | How dates are written throughout the app | Day Month Year, e.g. 09 May 2026 |
| Keep screen awake | Stops the device sleeping while the app is open | Off |
| Default start screen | Which tab the dashboard opens on: Home, Logs, Alerts, References, or Account | Home |
| Default agency | Which organization is selected when the app opens | Your first organization |
| Home screen shortcuts | The quick actions on your device's app icon | None |
| Widget modules | Which features appear in the REDENES home-screen widget | None |
| Screensaver timeout | How long before the in-app screensaver appears | Off (0 seconds) |
| Offline translation languages | Which language packs download for use without signal | None |
| Compass true north | Whether the compass reads true north or magnetic north | Magnetic |
| Play sound when app open | Whether alert sounds play while you are using the app | Your agency's setting |
| Show notifications when app open | Whether alert banners appear while you are using the app | Your agency's setting |
| Play sounds on CarPlay / Android Auto | Whether alerts sound through the vehicle | Your agency's setting |
| Show notifications on CarPlay / Android Auto | Whether alerts appear on the vehicle screen | Your agency's setting |
Alongside those, signing in also loads:
| Also downloaded | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Normal and critical alert sounds | Your chosen default sounds for each alert type |
| Custom sounds | Your agency's own sound files, sorted by name and downloaded to the device so they play offline |
| Mute state | Whether your notifications are muted, for how long, and when the mute expires |
| System notifications | The system messages waiting for you |
| Certifications | Your certification records |
Because every one of these lives with your account rather than the device, signing in on a replacement phone restores your theme, units, default tab, and sounds automatically. Change them in Settings on the Account Tab.
If screensaver timeout is set and keep screen awake is on, the in-app screensaver starts counting from the moment you sign in.
Choose How You Are Joining
After your credentials are accepted, the app asks how you want to proceed.
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Mutual Aid Login | Request access to a specific incident by entering its Incident ID |
| Request Access | Request access to an agency by entering a 6-character organization code |
| Existing Agency Login | Continue with an agency you already belong to |
| Logout | Sign back out if you chose the wrong account |
Choosing Logout shows a confirmation titled Logout reading "Are you sure you want to log out?" with Cancel and Logout options.
Request incident access
- Tap Mutual Aid Login.
- The screen reads Request Incident Access with the instruction "Please enter your incident id".
- Type the incident ID into the Enter Incident ID field.
- Submit the request.
Request agency access
- Tap Request Access.
- The screen reads Request Agency Access with the instruction "Please enter your 6-character organization code".
- Type the code into the six boxes. They fill left to right, one character each.
- Submit the request. If you have not entered a code, a short message reads "Please enter organization code".
- The result of the request appears as a short confirmation, and you return to the previous screen.
Below the code boxes, the screen lists every agency request you have made and where it stands.
| Status | Colour | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| PENDING | Amber | Submitted and waiting for an administrator to decide |
| JOINED | Green | Approved — you are a member of that agency |
| DENIED | Red | An administrator turned the request down |
| REMOVED | Red | You were removed from the agency |
| LEFT | Grey | You left the agency |
Each row shows the organization name, the status, how the request was made, the organization code (when there is one), any note the administrator left, the date you requested it, and the date the status last changed. Dates follow the date format from your settings.
A pending request is not access. Until an administrator approves it, the agency will not appear in your dashboard's organization list.
Confirm Device Access
Before reaching your dashboard, the app confirms which of your devices should be logged in for each agency. This screen exists because agencies pay for a set number of devices.
| Element | Description |
|---|---|
| Personal Paid Devices | The total number of personal device slots on your own account |
| Agency row | One row per agency you belong to |
| Organization Paid Subscriptions | How many of that agency's paid slots are currently used, out of the total |
| Personal Paid Subscriptions | How many of your own paid slots that agency is using, out of your total |
| Selected devices | The names of the devices currently chosen, or Select Device when none are |
| Submit | Saves your choices and starts the data download |
To set it up:
- Review each agency and its paid subscription counts.
- Tap an agency row. A list of your devices opens, with the currently logged-in ones already ticked.
- Tick the devices that should be logged in for that agency, then confirm.
- Repeat for each agency. The row updates to list the device names you chose.
- Tap Submit.
There is a limit to how many devices can be logged in per agency: the agency's paid slots plus whatever is left of your personal slots after other agencies have taken theirs. A row whose selection exceeds its limit is outlined in red so you can spot it before submitting.
The screen checks two rules when you tap Submit:
| Rule broken | Message you see |
|---|---|
| An agency has more devices selected than it is allowed | "Too many devices selected for "<Agency>". Maximum allowed is N, but M are selected. Please deselect some devices before submitting." |
| The device in your hand is not selected anywhere | "Your device must be selected for at least one agency. Please select this device before submitting." |
Let Your Data Download
After a successful submit, the app downloads everything it needs to work in the field.
- A download screen appears and reports its progress.
- Your agencies, their tiles, your directory, form templates, map icons, and offline map data are saved onto the device.
- If you belong to more than one agency, the one from your settings is selected; if that agency is no longer available, the first one in the list is used instead.
- When the download finishes, the dashboard opens on your default start screen.
Some tiles stay unavailable until their part of the download finishes. Tapping GPS or Maps too early shows a downloading message rather than opening the map — wait a moment and try again. See Home Tab and References Tab.
Recover or Register
Two links sit below the login button for when you need them.
- Tap Forgot Password to recover access using your mobile number — see Forgot Password.
- Tap Register to create a new account — see Create an Account.
How This Connects
Sign In is the moment your account, your device, and your agency are joined together.
- Your email may already be filled in because Create an Account remembered it after you registered.
- Your device identity comes from First Launch & Onboarding and is named on Name Your Device. It is the device you must tick on the Confirm Device Access step.
- Your settings are read from the server at sign-in and written onto the device. Changing them later in Settings on the Account Tab updates the server, so the change follows you to your next sign-in.
- The default start screen setting decides which tab the Main Dashboard & Tab Bar opens on, and the default agency setting decides which organization is showing in the header.
- The mute state loaded here is what turns the organization name red and shows the mute icon in the dashboard header.
- The agency data downloaded at the end is the source for every tile on Home Tab, Logs Tab, References Tab, and Account Tab, and for the status names on Status & Availability.
- Losing signal stops you signing in — credentials have to be checked on the server, and the Confirm Device Access screen does nothing at all without a connection. Once you are already signed in, losing signal does not sign you out: the app keeps running from the copy of your agency's data on the device and shows a banner reading "No Internet Connection - All data is offline only". When you reconnect, the app resumes talking to the server and refreshes counts and data in the background.
Troubleshooting
| If this happens | What to do |
|---|---|
| "Invalid email or password." | Re-check the email for typos, retype the password with Show turned on, or use Forgot Password. |
| Nothing happens when you tap Login | One of the fields is blank. Look for the red required-field text under Email or Password. |
| A timeout message appears | Tap Try Again. The app already retried once on its own before asking. |
| The app closes with a message after you tap Login | Device registration hit a conflict. Contact your agency administrator before reopening. |
| Submit will not go through on Confirm Device Access | Read the message: either an agency has too many devices ticked, or the device in your hand is not ticked anywhere. |
| An agency row is outlined in red | That agency has more devices selected than its paid slots allow. Untick some. |
| No agencies appear after sign-in | You have not joined one yet. Use Request Access with your agency's 6-character code, or Mutual Aid Login with an incident ID. |
| Your request still says PENDING | An administrator has not decided yet. There is nothing to fix in the app. |
| The dashboard opens on the wrong tab | Change default start screen in Settings; it applies from your next sign-in onward. |
| You are signed out unexpectedly | Your session expired. Sign in again; nothing on the device is lost. |
