GPS History

Review the positions you have saved, as a list or plotted on a map.

GPS History keeps the positions you have looked up or converted on the GPS screen. You can read them as a dated list or see them all plotted together on a map, open any one for its full detail, and clear out the ones you no longer need. Everything here is stored on this device.

GPS history

Overview​

The screen has two tabs across the top and a clear action. The active tab is shown in red with an underline, and you can also swipe between the two.

Each list row shows three lines and a coloured bar down its left edge.

Red barAny other kind of record, such as a converted coordinate.

Getting Here​

  1. Open the GPS screen.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu and choose History.

If there is nothing saved when you open the screen you will see Alert with the message History not found. Tapping OK takes you straight back to the GPS screen.

Browse Your History​

  1. On the View as List tab, scroll the rows. The colour bar tells you at a glance which entries are your own positions and which were coordinates you entered.
  2. Tap a row to open the full detail for that position. See GPS History Detail.

See Everything on a Map​

  1. Tap View on Map, or swipe across to that tab.
  2. Every saved position is drawn as a labelled marker with its date, coloured to match the list: green for your own current-location records and red for the rest.
  3. The camera zooms out to fit every marker on screen with a margin around them.
  4. Tap a marker's label to open that position's full detail.
  5. Press and hold anywhere on the map to see the coordinate of that spot.

The history map uses a plain street style rather than your organization's base map, so it looks different from the other map screens. That is intentional — it keeps the markers easy to pick out.

Delete History​

One entry:

  1. Press and hold the row you want to remove.
  2. A prompt appears: Delete — Are you sure you want to delete this record?
  3. Tap Delete to remove it, or Cancel to keep it.

Everything:

  1. Tap Clear.
  2. A prompt appears: Delete — Are you sure you want to clear history?
  3. Tap Delete to wipe the whole history, or Cancel to keep it.

Clearing empties both the list and the map at once.

caution

There is no undo. History is stored only on this device, so a cleared entry cannot be recovered from the server or from another phone. Copy anything you still need before you clear.

tip

Clear the history at the end of a shift to keep it short and easy to scan. Anything you want to keep permanently belongs on a saved map or in Waypoints, not in history.

How This Connects​

  • Entries are added by the GPS screen. Reading your current position and converting a coordinate both write a record, which is why the history mixes green "current" entries with red converted ones.
  • History is kept in the app's own storage on the device. It is not uploaded, not synced, and not visible to your team, so it works with no connection and it does not follow you to another phone.
  • Tapping any row or marker opens GPS History Detail, where the position is shown in every format with copy, map and navigate actions.
  • Recorded routes are a different feature entirely: they are uploaded to the server and listed in My Tracking. Use those when the team needs to see where you went.
  • To put a point in front of your team, place a marker on a saved map instead, which syncs and can be shared.
  • The base map behind the history map is fetched live, so it will be blank in a dead spot even though the markers themselves are stored locally.

Troubleshooting​

Long-pressing a row does nothingHold it for a moment longer, and make sure you are on the View as List tab.
The map shows no markersEither the history is empty, or you are on the list tab. Tap View on Map.
The map is blank behind the markersBase map tiles are fetched live. Move to a connection — the markers themselves are stored on the device.
Markers overlap and cannot be tappedZoom in until the labels separate, then tap the one you want.
You cleared history by mistakeIt cannot be recovered. Re-read or re-enter the positions on the GPS screen.
The colour bars look wrongGreen marks a record of your own current location; red marks everything else, including coordinates you typed in.
