Voting Polls

See your agency's polls, cast your vote, and create new votes for the group.

The Voting Polls screen lists the polls created within your agency. Each poll card shows its title, who created it, when, how many votes have been cast, and a green badge if you have already voted. Tapping a poll opens its detail page, where you read the full question, pick your answer, and — depending on how the poll was set up — watch live result bars and see how each person voted. You can also create a brand-new poll from the menu at the top.

Overview

The list is a stack of cards. The three-dot menu at the top right holds a single choice: Add New Vote.

Element on a card	What it shows
Title	The poll's question or topic, up to two lines.
Created by	The name of the person who made the poll.
Date	How long ago it was created, worded naturally — for example "2 days ago".
Votes cast	1 vote cast or 12 votes cast, with a small person icon.
Voted badge	A small green tag in the top-right corner, shown only if you have already voted.

Getting Here

1. Open the Account tab and tap the Voting Polls module.
2. The list loads and refreshes every time you come back to this screen, so it is always current.
3. Scroll through the poll cards to see what is open for voting.
4. Tap the Back arrow to return to the account grid.

Reading the Poll List

1. Each card shows the poll title at the top, with a green Voted badge in the corner if you have cast your vote.
2. Below the title you see Created by the author's name and a relative date.
3. The bottom of the card shows how many votes cast the poll has received so far.
4. Cards without a Voted badge are ones you have not yet voted on.

tip

Look for the green Voted badge to tell at a glance which polls still need your vote. The badge appears on the card as soon as you have voted, and again as ✓ You have voted at the top of the poll's own page.

Voting on a Poll

1. Tap a poll card to open its detail page.
2. The top of the page shows the title, the author and date as By name · time ago, and the full body text of the question.
3. Below that, a section headed Sent to Groups lists the groups the poll went to as small pills, with the number of eligible voters beside the heading.
4. The voting options appear next. The section heading tells you what to do: Cast Your Vote — Select one or Cast Your Vote — Select all that apply, depending on the poll's settings.
5. Tap an option to select it. A selected option fills with color and shows a filled marker; unselected options show an outline.
6. Tap the button at the bottom of the screen to submit.

What the submit button says

Button text	When you see it
Submit Vote	You have not voted yet.
Change Vote	You have voted and the poll allows changes.
Submit Proxy Vote for name	You are voting on someone else's behalf.
No button at all	You have voted and the poll does not allow changes.

If you tap submit with nothing selected, you get "Please select at least one option."

Single choice versus multiple choice

Poll setting	Marker shown	Behavior when you tap
Single choice	A circle, filled when chosen	Your previous choice is replaced.
Multiple selections allowed	A square, ticked when chosen	Tapping toggles that option on or off, leaving others alone.

Once you have voted on a poll that does not allow changes, the options dim and stop responding to taps, and the heading changes to just Voting Options.

Reading the Results

Whether you can see results depends on how the poll was set up and whether you have voted.

1. When results are available, a section headed Results · 8 of 20 voted appears.
2. Each option gets a row with its text, its count and percentage — for example 5 (63%) — and a bar that animates out to that share.
3. If the poll is not anonymous, a further section headed Responses lists each person and the option they chose.
4. A response cast by proxy shows an amber via tag with the name of the person who cast it.

Anonymous Voting on	Bars and counts appear, but the Responses list is hidden entirely.
Anonymous Voting off	The Responses list shows who voted for what.

Creating a New Poll

1. Tap the three-dot menu at the top right and choose Add New Vote.
2. The create screen opens as a form in several sections. Work down it in order.
3. Tap the submit button at the bottom when you are done.

The sections on the create form

Section	What you do
Title and Description	Type the question and, optionally, longer explanatory text in the box marked Enter description.
Groups	Tap the group picker to open Select Groups, a checklist of your agency's groups. Pick one or more.
Members	Optional. Tap the preview control to load the eligible voters from those groups, then untick anyone who should not vote.
Options	Type your choices. Each row is labelled Option 1, Option 2, and so on, with a Delete button. Tap + Add Option for more.
Settings	Five switches — see the table below.

The five poll settings

Messages you may see when creating

The form checks three things, in order:

Message	What it means
"Please enter a vote title."	The title is empty or only spaces.
"Please select at least one group."	No group has been chosen.
"Please add at least two voting options."	Fewer than two options have text in them. Blank rows do not count.
"Select at least one group before previewing members."	You tapped the member preview before choosing a group.

If you tap Back with unsaved changes, the app asks "Data Updated — Do you want to save changes?" — Save runs the checks and creates the poll, Cancel discards the form.

Narrowing the eligible voters

1. Choose your groups first.
2. Tap the preview control to load every member of those groups. All of them are ticked to begin with.
3. Untick anyone who should not be eligible.
4. If you then change the group selection, the member list is cleared and you will need to preview again — this keeps the two from drifting out of step.

note

If you leave every member ticked, the poll simply goes to those groups. Only when you untick someone does the app record a narrower list of eligible voters.

Proxy Voting and Deleting

The three-dot menu on a poll's detail page holds up to two actions, and only appears when at least one applies.

Action	When it appears
Cast Proxy Vote	The poll has Allow Proxy Voting turned on.
Delete Vote	You created the poll.

Casting a proxy vote

1. Open the poll and tap the three-dot menu, then Cast Proxy Vote.
2. A sheet titled Cast Proxy Vote asks you to "Select the member you are voting on behalf of:" and lists the eligible voters.
3. Tap the member's name. Your own selection is cleared and the options heading changes to Proxy Vote for name.
4. Pick the option they want and tap Submit Proxy Vote for name.
5. Their response appears in the Responses list with an amber via tag showing your name.

If the poll has no eligible voter list recorded, you get "No eligible voter list available for proxy voting."

Deleting a poll

1. Open a poll you created and tap the three-dot menu, then Delete Vote.
2. A prompt titled Delete Vote asks "Are you sure you want to delete this vote? This cannot be undone."
3. Tap Delete to remove it, or Cancel to keep it.
4. You return to the poll list and the poll is gone.

caution

Deleting a poll removes it and every vote cast in it, for everyone, and cannot be undone. Only the person who created a poll sees the Delete Vote option.

Loading, Empty, and Offline States

Situation	What you see
Opening the list	A brief spinner, then the cards. The list reloads every time you return to the screen.
No polls yet	An empty list. Use Add New Vote to create one.
Opening a poll	A spinner, then the sections. Sections with nothing in them are hidden.
A poll went to no groups	The Sent to Groups section is hidden.
Results are hidden for you	The Results and Responses sections are hidden, and the space at the bottom makes room for the submit button.
You cannot vote	No submit button, dimmed options, and the heading reads Voting Options.
The server does not answer	An alert shows the error and the list or page stays empty.
Offline	This module needs a connection throughout. Expect an error alert.

How This Connects

• Where the data comes from. Both the list and each poll's detail page are fetched fresh from your agency's server. Nothing is kept on your device.
• What updates it. Creating a poll, casting or changing a vote, casting a proxy vote, deleting a poll — from any member's device. After you vote, the app reloads the poll so the bars and counts you see include your own answer straight away.
• Groups decide who votes. The Select Groups checklist is drawn from your agency's groups, maintained by an administrator on Manage Groups. Which groups a person belongs to is set on Manage Members, and members can join or leave open groups themselves from Personal Profile → Agency Info.
• Eligible voters come from those groups. The member preview lists everyone in the chosen groups, so someone who joins a group after a poll is created will not be on its eligible list.
• Proxy voting needs an eligible list. The Cast Proxy Vote sheet is populated from the poll's recorded eligible voters, which is why a poll sent broadly with nobody unticked may have nothing to offer there.
• Names come from your agency record. Created by and the names in the Responses list are the same names that appear in the Directory.
• Dates are relative, not formatted. Unlike most screens, poll dates are worded as "2 days ago" rather than following the date format in App Defaults.
• Offline and reconnect. Nothing in this module is queued. Loading the list, opening a poll, voting, creating, and deleting all need a live connection, and each shows the server's error if it is not there. Reopen the screen once you are back online — the list always refetches, so you will see the current state.

Troubleshooting

If this happens	What to do
An error alert appears instead of polls	This module needs a connection every time. Check your signal and reopen it.
There is no submit button on a poll	You have already voted and that poll does not allow changes.
Tapping options does nothing	Same reason — the options are dimmed once your vote is locked in.
"Please select at least one option." appears	Tap an option so it fills with color, then submit.
You cannot see results	The poll has Show Results Before Voting turned off. Cast your vote and they appear.
Results show but nobody's name does	The poll is anonymous. The Responses list is hidden by design.
"Please add at least two voting options." blocks creation	Blank option rows do not count. Type text into at least two of them.
The member preview is empty	Choose at least one group first, and check those groups have members on Manage Members.
Your member selection disappeared	Changing the group selection clears it. Preview the members again.
"No eligible voter list available for proxy voting." appears	The poll has no narrowed eligible list. The poll's creator would need to set one.
Cast Proxy Vote is missing from the menu	That poll has Allow Proxy Voting turned off.
Delete Vote is missing from the menu	Only the poll's creator can delete it.
The three-dot menu does nothing	Neither action applies to you on that poll, so there is nothing to show.
A vote count looks out of date	Tap Back and reopen the poll — every visit refetches.
Someone who should have voted is not in Responses	They may not be on the eligible list, or they have not voted yet. Check the Results heading for the count.
