Radio Info
Choose the radio codeplug you want to view for your organization.
Radio Info is the front door to Communications. It lists the codeplugs imported for your organization as cards, each showing the codeplug's alias, its radio type, whether the import succeeded, how many zones, channels, and talkgroups it contains, and when it was imported. Tapping a card opens that codeplug's hub, where you browse its zones, channels, controls, and everything else it holds.

Overview
| Element | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Header | The screen title |
| Card title | The codeplug's alias — the name people use for it, such as a radio model plus a year |
| Radio type badge | A small dark badge with the radio type, such as APX |
| State badge | The import state in lowercase: ready in green, failed in red, anything else in gray |
| Counts line | Zones, channels, and talkgroups, written as 108Z 2948Ch 955TG |
| Imported line | Imported: followed by the date the codeplug was imported, as year-month-day |
| Menu button | Opens the single option, Search |
| Search field | Hidden until you choose Search; filters the list as you type |
| Back | Hides any loading indicator and returns to the previous screen |
Cards dim briefly as you press them, so you can see which one you hit.
| Badge | What it means for you |
|---|---|
| ready (green) | The codeplug imported cleanly and can be browsed |
| failed (red) | The import did not complete; only seen in the offline list |
| Other state (gray) | The import is in some other state, such as still processing |
When the list is fetched with a connection, codeplugs whose import failed are filtered out, so everything you see is readable. The offline list shows whatever snapshots are on the device, which is why a failed badge is possible there.
Getting Here
- From the Home screen, open References.
- Select Communications.
- Radio Info opens and starts loading the codeplug list.
How the List Is Loaded
| Your connection | What happens |
|---|---|
| Online | The codeplug list is fetched for your organization and any failed imports are dropped |
| Offline | The list is built from the codeplug copies already downloaded to this device, newest first |
| Offline with nothing downloaded | "No offline codeplugs are available. Connect to the internet to download them." |
| Offline but the copies cannot be read | "Couldn't read the offline codeplugs." |
| Fetch failed | An alert with the message returned by the server |
A codeplug has to be opened at least once with a connection before it is available offline. Open the codeplugs you expect to need before you head somewhere with no signal.
Reading a Card
Use the card to decide whether this is the codeplug you want before you open it.
- Check the alias — this is the name your agency uses for the radio.
- Check the radio type badge against the radio you are actually holding.
- Check the state badge is ready.
- Glance at the counts: a codeplug with far fewer zones or channels than you expect is probably an older or partial import.
- Check the Imported date to be sure you are reading the current programming.
When two codeplugs have similar aliases, the counts and the import date are the quickest way to tell them apart. A newer import date with more channels is usually the one you want.
Searching Codeplugs
- Tap the menu button in the top corner.
- Tap Search. The field appears and the keyboard opens.
- Type any part of the alias, the codeplug name, or the radio type.
- Matching ignores capitals and matches anywhere in the value.
- Clearing the field restores the full list.
- Tapping Search in the menu again closes the field, clears your text, and restores the list.

Opening a Codeplug
- Tap the card for the codeplug you want.
- The Communications hub opens, titled with that codeplug's name.
- From there, each section you tap loads its own data for that codeplug.

Everything you open afterwards stays tied to this codeplug until you come back here and choose another.
Getting Ready to Work Offline
Communications is genuinely usable with no signal, but only for codeplugs that are already on the device.
- While you still have a connection, open Radio Info and tap the codeplug you expect to need.
- Step into the sections you will actually use — Zones, Channels, MPL Config, Buttons / Switches — so each one has been read at least once.
- If you may need to compare against another agency's radio, open that codeplug too, because Compare needs both to be available.
- Check back later: reopening a codeplug while connected picks up any newer import.
| Situation | What you can do offline |
|---|---|
| Codeplug opened before, connection lost | Read every section from the local copy |
| Codeplug never opened | Nothing — you get the offline message |
| Two codeplugs both opened before | Read both, and compare a channel between them |
| Codeplug re-imported since you last looked | You read the older copy until you reconnect |
What This Screen Does Not Do
| You might expect | Reality |
|---|---|
| Uploading or editing programming | None; the app only reads imported codeplugs |
| A refresh gesture | Leave the screen and reopen it to fetch again |
| Sorting by date or size | Cards keep the order they arrive in |
| A favorites or recents list | None; search or scroll each time |
| Deleting a local copy | Not offered on this screen |
| Details beyond the card | Open the codeplug and read its sections |
The Imported date is the single most useful value on the card. If a crew reports that a channel behaves differently from what the app shows, check that date first — an old import is the usual explanation.
How This Connects
- Where codeplugs come from. A codeplug is a radio programming file imported for your organization. The server holds the imported result along with its counts, state, and import date, which is exactly what each card shows. Nothing here edits or uploads programming.
- How offline copies appear. Your organization publishes downloadable copies of its codeplugs. Once a copy has been downloaded to the device, the whole of Communications can be read from it with no signal — see the offline notes on Communications.
- What the counts tell you. The zone, channel, and talkgroup counts are the same data you then browse in Zones and Channels, so a count of zero for a section explains an empty list later.
- Compare needs two. The Compare option in Zone & Channel Details checks a channel against another codeplug from this same list, so both have to be available — and offline, both have to be downloaded.
- Used with incidents. Confirming which codeplug is on the radio you are carrying is the first step in reading a comms plan — see Incident Comms Tab.
- Not the in-app talk paths. Codeplugs describe physical radios. Talking through the app is separate — see Audio Channels and Streaming Channels.
- Offline and reconnect. Offline, the list is limited to downloaded copies and can show a failed badge. When the connection comes back, leave and reopen the screen so the current list is fetched and any newer import appears.
Troubleshooting
| If this happens | What to do |
|---|---|
| "No offline codeplugs are available. Connect to the internet to download them." | Nothing has been downloaded to this device. Connect, open the codeplug you need once, then it works offline. |
| "Couldn't read the offline codeplugs." | The local copies could not be read. Connect to the internet and open the codeplug again to refresh it. |
| An alert with a server message appears | The list could not be fetched. Check your connection and reopen the screen. |
| A card shows a red failed badge | That import did not complete and cannot be browsed reliably. Use another codeplug and tell whoever manages the imports. |
| The list is empty | No codeplugs have been imported for your organization, or a search is still filtering. Clear the search first. |
| A codeplug you need is missing | It may not be imported for your organization, or the import failed and was filtered out. |
| The counts look far too low | The import may be partial or out of date. Check the Imported date against what you expect. |
| The radio type does not match your radio | Pick the codeplug whose type badge matches the radio in your hand; channels and buttons differ between radio types. |
| Sections are empty after you open a codeplug | The codeplug holds nothing for those sections; check the counts on its card. |
