Add User Info
A focused popup for adding a single phone number, email, website, or access code to a contact.
This popup appears whenever you tap one of the small add rows while building or editing a contact. It asks for two things — a label and a value — and checks the value before it lets you save, so the Directory does not fill up with numbers that cannot be dialed or addresses that cannot receive mail. The title and the two field names change to match what you are adding.

Overview
| Field / Control | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Label field | A short name for the entry, such as "Dispatch", "Mobile" or "Front Gate". Required. The keyboard opens here automatically. |
| Value field | The phone number, email address, website or code itself. Required. |
| Text | Phone numbers only. Turn on when the number accepts text messages. |
| Fax | Phone numbers only. Turn on for a fax line. |
| Voice | Phone numbers only. Turn on when the number can be called. |
| Save | Validates and adds the entry |
| Back | Closes the popup without saving |
How the popup changes by type
| Type | Title when adding | Title when editing | Label field | Value field | Keyboard |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Phone | Add Phone Number | Edit Phone Number | Phone Number Name | Phone Number | Number pad |
| Add Email Address | Edit Email Address | Email Address Name | Email Address | Email keyboard | |
| Website | Add Website | Edit Website | Website Name | Website Url | Web keyboard |
| Access code | Add Access Code | Edit Access Code | Access Code Name | Access Code | Standard keyboard |
The Text, Fax and Voice switches are only on screen for phone numbers. For emails, websites and access codes that row is hidden entirely.
The card resizes for phones and tablets and shifts up when the keyboard appears, so both fields stay visible while you type.
Getting Here
- Open Home, then tap Directory.
- Open or create a contact — see Add a Contact.
- Tap the add row at the bottom of the section you want: Add new phone, Add new email, Add new website or Add access code.
To change an existing entry, tap the edit control on its row instead. The popup opens with the current label and value already filled in, and for a phone number the Text, Fax and Voice switches come back set the way you left them.
The same popup is used when you are building a sub contact, with identical fields and titles.
Addresses and Wi-Fi networks use their own, larger popups rather than this one, because they have more fields. See Add a Contact for those.
Adding an Entry
- Enter a label in the first field. Leaving it blank shows a message telling you to enter that field — for example "Enter phone number name" or "Enter email address name".
- Enter the value in the second field. Leaving it blank shows the matching message, such as "Enter phone number" or "Enter website url".
- For a phone number, set Text, Fax and Voice as appropriate. All three start off.
- Save. The entry appears in its section on the contact, and the sections keep themselves sorted alphabetically by label.

Labels are what teammates read under pressure. "Dispatch", "Station 4 Bay", "After Hours" and "Front Gate" tell someone what they are calling; "Phone 1" and "Other" do not.
What Gets Checked Before Saving
| Type | Check | Message when it fails |
|---|---|---|
| Phone | The value looks like a dialable number | "Enter valid phone number" |
| The value looks like an email address | "Enter valid email address" | |
| Website | The value looks like a web address | "Enter valid website url" |
| Access code | No format check — codes can be anything | — |
| All types | The label is not empty | "Enter" followed by the field name |
| All types | The value is not empty | "Enter" followed by the field name |
Fix the value and save again; nothing is lost while the message is on screen.
Access codes are deliberately not validated. Gate codes, lockbox combinations and door codes come in every shape, including letters and symbols, so the app takes whatever you type.
The Text, Fax and Voice Switches
These three flags travel with the phone number and tell everyone else how the number can be used.
| Switch | Turn it on when |
|---|---|
| Text | The number receives SMS. Teammates then know a text will actually arrive. |
| Fax | The number is a fax line. Useful for marking numbers that should never be called. |
| Voice | The number can be called and answered |
They are independent, so a number can be all three, or none. A number saved with nothing set still dials — the flags are information for people reading the contact, not a restriction on the buttons.
Editing and Deleting an Entry
- On the contact screen, tap the edit control on the entry's row. The popup reopens titled Edit Phone Number, Edit Email Address, Edit Website or Edit Access Code.
- Change the label, the value or the switches and save. The entry keeps its place in the contact rather than being added again.
- To remove an entry, tap its delete control on the contact screen instead. The app asks "Are you sure you want to delete this record?" — confirm with Delete or back out with Cancel.
Edits and deletions become permanent when you save the contact itself. Leaving the contact screen without saving asks "Do you want to save changes?" — choosing Cancel there discards everything you changed in these popups too.
How This Connects
- Where the data goes. Saving the popup adds the entry to the contact you are editing, held in the app until you save the contact. Saving the contact writes it to your agency's Directory record on the server, so teammates see the new number or address once their app refreshes.
- Contact Detail. Every entry you add here becomes an action on Contact Detail: phone numbers gain call and text buttons, email addresses open your mail app, websites open the link. The label you typed is what appears above the value.
- Phone. A saved number is what the app dials when someone chooses REDENES Phone, using the same calling service as the Phone Dialer, or hands to the phone's own dialer with Default Phone.
- Chat. Adding a phone number does not create a chat partner. Only people with their own REDENES sign-in get a chat button on the Directory list.
- Sub contacts. The same popup builds the phone numbers, emails, websites and access codes on a sub contact, which then appear on that sub contact's own detail screen.
- Offline and reconnect. The popup works with no connection at all. The entry is held with the contact, saved to your device, and pushed to the server the next time you are online.
Troubleshooting
| If this happens | What to do |
|---|---|
| Saving shows "Enter" followed by a field name | That field is empty. Fill in both the label and the value. |
| A phone number is rejected as not valid | Remove letters and stray symbols. Dots between groups of digits are handled for you when the number is dialed. |
| An email is rejected as not valid | Check for a missing @ or a typo after it. |
| A website is rejected as not valid | Enter a complete web address rather than just a site name. |
| The Text, Fax and Voice switches are missing | You are adding an email, website or access code. Those switches only apply to phone numbers. |
| The keyboard is the wrong type | The keyboard follows the type you chose. If you wanted a phone number, close the popup and use Add new phone instead. |
| Your entry disappeared after you went back | Entries are only committed when you save the contact. Save the contact after adding entries. |
| An edited entry appears twice | Use the edit control on the existing row rather than the add row, which always creates a new entry. |
| You need to store an address or a Wi-Fi network | Those use their own popups. Use Add new address or Add wifi network on Add a Contact. |
