Weather Forecast
Pull current conditions and a period-by-period forecast for the incident location.
The Weather Forecast popup retrieves live weather for a chosen address from the U.S. National Weather Service. Current temperature, humidity, wind, and dew point sit at the top, a scrollable strip of upcoming periods runs across the middle, and full written forecasts follow below. It helps a commander anticipate the conditions that drive operations and crew safety.
Overview

There are no other controls. Nothing on this screen can be edited, tapped through, or refreshed in place.
The fields at the top

Last update is when the app asked for the data, not when the observation was taken. A reading can be a little older than that timestamp suggests. Close and reopen the popup to fetch fresh data; there is no refresh button.
Getting Here
- Open an incident and switch to the Command view.
- Open the command tools menu.
- Choose Weather, then select or confirm the address you want the forecast for.
- The popup opens with a loading overlay and fills in once the forecast arrives.
The forecast is for the exact coordinates of the address you pick, so choose the incident address rather than the station if conditions differ across your area.
Read Current Conditions
- Check the address at the top, with its latitude and longitude, to confirm you are looking at the right place.
- Read the large temperature, with the Celsius equivalent beside it.
- Work down Humidity, Wind Speed, and Dewpoint. Wind is written as direction then speed, so
NW 10 MPHmeans blowing from the north-west. - Note the Last update time so you know how current the reading is.
Temperature and dew point read together tell you more than either alone. When they close in on each other the air is near saturation, which points to fog, and a wide gap in heat is a heat-stress warning for crews in gear.
Browse the Forecast
- Swipe the forecast strip left and right to step through upcoming periods. Each tile shows the period name, an icon, the temperature with its unit, and a short description such as
Partly Sunny. - Scroll the detailed forecast list below for the full written forecast of each period. The period name is in bold, followed by the narrative.
- Both views cover the same periods in the same order, so a tile you spot in the strip has a matching entry in the list.
- Read across the periods for the trend, for example a wind shift, an incoming front, or an overnight temperature drop.
Periods are named the way the weather service names them, such as Today, Tonight, Thursday, and Thursday Night, rather than as clock times.
Loading and Empty States

When weather cannot be retrieved the popup ends up empty rather than telling you something went wrong. An empty screen means "no data", never "no weather". Tap Close, check your connection, and try again.
How This Connects
Everything on this screen is fetched live, from outside REDENES.
- The data comes from the U.S. National Weather Service at weather.gov. The app looks up the coordinates of the address you picked, then requests the conditions and forecast for that point.
- The address and coordinates come from the address you selected when opening the popup, which is normally the incident address held on the Info tab. Change the incident address there and the forecast follows it next time you open this screen.
- The Last update timestamp is formatted using the date format set on your account, so it matches the way times are shown elsewhere in the app.
- Nothing here is saved. The forecast is not stored on the device, not attached to the incident record, and not shared with other responders. Everyone who needs it opens it themselves.
- Conditions worth acting on belong in the incident record. Note a wind shift or a warning on the incident timeline, or mark the affected area as a zone in Task Maps, so it is on the record and visible to others.
This is the one screen in this section that does not work offline. With no connection the popup opens empty and stays empty, because there is no cached copy of a previous forecast. National Weather Service coverage is limited to the United States and its territories, so an incident outside that area returns nothing however good your connection is.
Troubleshooting

| The data looks stale | There is no refresh button. Close and reopen the popup for a fresh fetch. |
| Last update does not match the conditions | That timestamp is when the app fetched, not when the observation was taken. |
| The forecast is for the wrong place | It follows the address you selected when opening the popup. Correct the incident address on the Info tab and reopen. |
| Wind direction is confusing | Direction comes first and describes where the wind is blowing from, so NW 10 MPH is a north-westerly. |
| Temperature units are not what you expect | Both are shown: Fahrenheit from the weather service, with the Celsius conversion beside it. |
