App Settings
The home base for every preference in REDENES — appearance, defaults, notifications, devices, support, and signing out.
App Settings is the main menu for configuring the app. The top of the screen is a live status panel: your name, your agencies, the installed version, whether a newer one is available, and whether your internet, Apple Watch and CarPlay connections are up. Below that, rows open every other settings area. Organization administrators see an extra Agency Admin section at the top of the list.

Getting Here
- Open the Account tab.
- Choose App Settings.
Role Gating and Hidden Rows
| Section | Shown when |
|---|---|
| Agency Admin | Your role in the current agency is organization administrator |
| Bluetooth Scan | Only for specific agencies |
| Wi-Fi Scan, camera scan, audio RTP and video stream test rows | Currently hidden for all agencies |
| Extra testing rows | Only for one specific agency |
These are agency-level decisions, not something you can switch on. If a row is missing, it is not enabled for the agency you are currently in — switch agency and look again.
Using the Tracking Toggle
- Find the tracking row near the top of the screen. Its label reads Start Tracking or Stop Tracking depending on whether tracking is already running.
- Switch it on. Tracking begins and the label changes to Stop Tracking.
- Switch it off. Tracking stops and the label returns to Start Tracking.
| Situation | What happens |
|---|---|
| Switched on with a connection | Tracking starts, capturing and sending your position every ten seconds |
| Switched on with no connection | An Internet not available message appears and tracking does not start |
| Switched off | Tracking stops immediately, online or not |

Tracking needs a connection to start because it registers with the server first. Switching the toggle on while offline shows a message and leaves tracking off, so check the label rather than the switch.
Checking the Version
- Read App Version at the top of the screen for what you are running.
- Read the line beneath it. Green App is up to date means you are current. Red New app version available for Install followed by a version number means a newer build exists.
- Tap the App Version row to open the full release history and read what changed.
The version check runs every time you open this screen.
Watch Status
- The watch row shows whether a watch is connected and, where available, its name.
- Tap it to request fresh details. If the watch session is not active, the app shows You watch session is not active.
- When details come back, they are shown in a Watch Info alert. If nothing is available, the alert reads Watch info not available.
Opening a Settings Area
- Scroll to the row you want.
- Tap it to open that area.
- Use the back button to return to App Settings. Requests still in flight are cancelled first.
The connection labels at the top are a fast pre-shift check: confirm your internet, watch and CarPlay status, that nothing is stuck pending, and that you are not muted — all from one screen before you head out.
How This Connects
- Where the status comes from. Internet and connection type are read live from the device, watch status from the watch session, CarPlay from whether a CarPlay screen is attached, and the pending counts from the app's own upload and download queues. All of it refreshes when the screen appears.
- Version check. The version line is a live request against your build channel each time you open the screen, which is why it needs a connection to be accurate.
- The mute row. Its label and countdown come from the mute set on Mute All Notifications, and the countdown ticks live while you are on this screen.
- Where settings take effect. Each area writes its own settings: App Defaults controls theme, units, date format, widgets and in-app alert behavior across the whole app; General Settings controls calendar sync, weather, audio and maps per agency; Notification Settings controls whether alerts reach you at all.
- Tracking. Starting tracking here feeds the track list and your position on the Reference Map and GPS.
- Agency scope. Most rows act on the agency you are currently in. Notification defaults and general settings are per agency; app defaults are yours across agencies.
- Sign-out. Sign Out ends sessions per agency. Those sessions are what an administrator sees on Devices.
- Offline and reconnect. Every row opens offline, but the screens behind them differ: notification settings and app defaults work fully offline and sync later; system-wide status, the device list and pairing refuse to run without a connection. Pending uploads and downloads is where offline work waits, and the counts on this screen tell you whether anything is still waiting.
Troubleshooting
| If this happens | What to do |
|---|---|
| The Agency Admin section is missing | Your role in the current agency is not organization administrator. |
| A device or test row is missing | Those rows are limited to specific agencies. Switch agency and look again. |
| Internet not available when you switch tracking on | Tracking registers with the server first. Reconnect and switch it on again; check the label reads Stop Tracking. |
| The tracking label and switch disagree | Trust the label. It reflects whether tracking actually started. |
| The version line shows nothing | The check needs a connection. Reconnect and reopen the screen. |
| New app version available for Install but you cannot update | Update through the channel your agency uses to distribute the app. The release history is on App Version. |
| Watch status stays Not Connected | Bring the watch near the phone and tap the row to request details again. |
| You watch session is not active | The watch app is not running or is out of range. Open it on the watch, then retry. |
| Watch info not available | The watch did not return details. Try again once it is connected. |
| The mute row is red and you did not mute | Open Mute All Notifications and tap Cancel, then Yes. |
| Pending uploads or downloads never clears | Open the row to see what is queued, and make sure you have a stable connection long enough for it to finish. |
| A setting did not stick | Most settings screens prompt "Do you want to save changes?" when you leave. Tapping Cancel there discards them — go back and tap Save. |
